got up at 2am. left home at 3am. airport at 5am. chicago at 9am. in portland (with two hours gained) at 12pm. just in time to still catch brunch (i. love. brunch.)! we ate at Tasty n Sons (recommended by a friend) for brunch. Tasty n Sons was a very eclectic environment with an interesting combination of cultural entrees (i had the moroccan chicken hash, sampled the french toast, and had a bacon wrapped maple glazed date). after we walked the neighborhood surrounding Tasty n Sons which is fairly close to the hotel we are staying at, the neighborhood is full of new-builds, old character homes, trendy shops, bars, and coffee shops. we took an uber to Pioneer Place in downtown portland for shopping (no sales tax rocks, by the way) and then ventured to Voodoo Doughnuts.
alright - i simply wanted the experience of going to Voodoo, i wasn't in the mood for a doughnut. okay - that was quite possibly the best doughnut i will ever eat in my life. i got the chocolate coconut cake donut. a dollar well spent! now we are back in the hotel room waiting on the delivery of our Sizzle Pie. "South of Heaven" pepperoni, jalapeños, and mushrooms. yum! i've heard Sizzle Pie is delish. so excited for a whole new day in portland tomorrow! oregon and out! britney
