this morning we went over to my brother's college friend's house in Bend. she let me taste her nespresso coffee and sample her homemade kombucha brew (fyi, google kombucha if you are unfamiliar with it!). so now i really want to purchase a nespresso machine and start brewing my own kombucha. my brother went snow shoeing today with his friends - his snapchat made me really jealous, it looked so fun and gorgeous on the mountain!
a good friend recommended i make my way to The Sparrow Bakery because i have to try out the "Ocean Roll." there is sooooo much hype about this little bakery and infamous pastry. the location we went to was the original location - very tiny and full of charm. but they were sold out of Ocean Rolls!!! this really bummed me out, but i am determined to get an Ocean Roll tomorrow! i was sad but i knew the other items on the menu had to be good so we had the croque monsieur and, yes, it was indeed delicious. the place is a hot spot and if you ever find yourself in Bend, Oregon do yourself a favor and try out The Sparrow Bakery. i was told by our friends here in Bend that a good coffee shop in the downtown area was Lone Pine Coffee. i am so happy i got to go there! i had the maple latte and the blueberry pecan coffee cake, it was all so good and a happy atmosphere. there were moms with babies, adventurous twenty-somethings planning get-aways, retired adults reading the paper - all just happy about life and good coffee. we shopped around downtown and the old mill area for a good chunk of the day. downtown is a bit pricy, but fun to window shop. i did venture into Townshend's Tea for a green bubble tea (pretty much all i did today was drink tea and coffee). they are a really cool place! they brew their own kombucha too, so that furthered my want to get into the kombucha movement. they have nine different flavors of kombucha and they even have growlers you can fill with the kombucha - i think that is so cool! we met up with my brother and his friends at Looney Bean Coffee once they were finished snow shoeing. they had a great time! for dinner we tried out a really cool place, Parrilla Grill, the line was almost out the door but it went fast. they have burritos, wraps, tacos, quesadillas, etc. (it's like a faster version of Burritoville for all my hometown followers!). we all shared the fish tacos, but, for those who really know me, i had to get the clam chowder! i love soup. the fish tacos were really good and really fresh, so was the clam chowder, except they add some heat to their clam chowder. it was fast and funky (funky in a good way). my goal tomorrow is to get an Ocean Roll! i'm in Bend and way too pumped about how delicious these Ocean Rolls are supposed to be - i NEED to experience it! oregon and out! britney
