on Easter morning (1am) my brother, my good friend from college, and I left for a trip to Chicago as a little spring break getaway. we took a train from Carbondale, Illinois to Chicago - getting into Chicago around 9am. we checked into our hotel, the Hyatt Regency in Downtown, and went to Wildberry Cafe for breakfast. I had the mexicana scramble with pancakes. after we walked Millennium Park to see the Bean, Lake Michigan, and toured the Art Institute of Chicago. I was so excited to visit the Art Institute! the Van Gogh's Bedrooms exhibit was on display and there's been so much hype about the Van Gogh exhibit - I was really pumped. the exhibit studies the three paintings Van Gogh did during his lifetime of his bedroom over the span of about a year. they compare/contrast the pieces, replicate the bedroom, and have several other Van Gogh pieces on display. the exhibit is really popular among visitors and therefore it was packed! I'm so glad I got to see this exhibit before it leaves the Art Institute. also at the museum was (among so many other WONDERFUL/AMAZING/MAGICAL pieces) were Ancient Greek pieces I have been studying this semester at college in my Greek Art and Archaeology class!!!! that made studying for those exams way more worth it. It's so cool to see something you have learned so much about in person. i wanted to lecture my friend about folded arm figurines and tripods, but I held most of it in. the art institute is hugeeeeee and was exhausting to tour all of it after traveling to Chicago with little sleep so after pushing ourselves to conquer the museum we treated our legs to a nap in the hotel room.
for dinner we had deep dish pizza at Giordano's, unfortunately it was rainy in the evening so we didn't do much but crash after dinner. my recovery sleep was very refreshing though! Chicago and out! britney
