today was my last day in Bend and Portland. i'm going to miss the pacific northwest!
we checked out of our hotel this morning and booked it to The Sparrow Bakery in hopes i would get an Ocean Roll. I GOT AN OCEAN ROLL - it was completely worth it. the Ocean Roll is a croissant in a spiral baked with sugar and cardamom. very tasty and unlike anything i've had before. i also had the quiche and a vanilla latte while at Sparrow this morning. we went to the newly opened Northwest location in Bend which is much more spacious and has an extended menu! after, we went shopping at the Patagonia @ Bend and then met up with my brother's friend for a farewell for now lunch at Kababa (so glad his friend had us lunch here!). Kebaba is a Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant and it doesn't disappoint. we got the hummus to snack on while waiting for our entrees - the hummus was hands down the best hummus i've ever had. i ordered the falafel pita and it was delicious as well! i'm so glad we got to meet up with our friend and for all of her recommendations during our trip to Bend, Oregon! she was so sweet and so fun. once we had lunch we grabbed coffee to go at Lone Pine Coffee Roasters (we went yesterday but we loved it so we had to go again - it's by far my favorite coffee shop in Bend!) and then hit the road back to Portland. the drive to and from Portland and Bend is gorgeous. i'm really glad we got the opportunity to take a road trip and have our own car to take as we pleased. once we were back in Portland we found a Walmart to return the tire chains we had to buy in case the roads to Bend were bad (there is an advisory to have chains with you while traveling in case of treacherous road conditions), so thankful we never needed those suckers! our last stop was Poler. i got some comfy pants! all the shopping stores close at 6pm on Sundays so that was kinda a bust, oh well - we really can't fit much more in our suit cases... we had dinner at Pine State Biscuits (again...) my mom really loves their blueberry cornmeal pancakes (honestly they are seriously that amazing), i had the chicken pot pie and chocolate milk! this is our last night in Portland, we will be flying out in the morning to go back to Missouri (and back to the college grind for me). i've had a great time though and i can't wait to come back to Oregon! oregon and out! britney
