today my friends and i took a road trip to St. Louis, Missouri for Art in Bloom at the Saint Louis Art Museum. i am thankful to have friends who will spend time with me admiring art and smelling flowers - two things i enjoy, maybe a little too much!
we started the day out with a pit stop in CoMo at Harold's Doughnuts and (my favorite) LaKota Coffee for breakfast and then hit the road. chatting with these girls is one of my favorite things to do so the car ride wasn't a long one! once we were at Forest Park in St. Louis we got a primo parking spot right in front of the art museum. all three of us had not been to the art museum before so it was a maze to get lost in while searching for the 37 different floral arrangements and viewing the artwork and taking advantage of selfie opportunities to document the adventure. like i said, there were 37 different floral arrangements inspired by 37 different pieces on display in the museum. each floral piece was made by a St. Louis florist, aren't they so talented (you can find the florists here)? and the flowers were a wide array of types and colors. i love seeing flowers besides the same ole same ole roses and baby's breath. being my first time at the Saint Louis Art Museum i was really in awe of the place and of some of the seriously awesome pieces and artists they host! how cool is it to walk by marble statues and a Picasso piece? well, it's pretty awesome. i really want my wedding reception to be at an art museum/gallery - maybe this venue will be a contender? clearly i won't have to look too far to find a great florist! we spent almost three hours at the museum and took in the view of art hill and made our way toward the Saint Louis Galleria mall for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory - it was my first time and also one of the my friends first time at a Cheesecake Factory. i got the bbq chicken pizza, probably because i'm so used to eating at California Pizza Kitchen when i go to the Galleria.... haha. we were starving! my friend and i shared a slice of cheesecake and then we all headed back to good ole CoMo. we were all tired and i'm positive we are all in bed in sweats - at least i am. i really recommend anyone who is able to visit SLAM to do it! it's free and fun! as my friend captioned her facebook photo, "Art in Bloom was a success!" britney
